ASSEMBELED DISTANCE
Project type
Mixed Media Scuplture
Date
2020
Assembled Distance is a sculptural series created in the earliest days of the COVID-19 pandemic—between the first weeks of lockdown and the birth of Killians second son. Each piece was built while navigating the fragile rhythm of caring for a newborn during a time when the world paused.
The works explore constructed perception, resilience, and ancestral memory through objects that feel simultaneously ancient and speculative. They suggest tools from another timeline: part spiritual device, part dysfunctional prosthetic. The use of antler, optics, gears, and copper gives each piece a distinct voice—some whispering, others warning.
Surreal, hand-built assemblages that blur the line between machine, relic, and ritual object—crafted in a suspended moment of global stillness and personal transformation.
